#1: The safety net
A garden trampoline without a safety net represents a big risk, because when you jump wildly, you can't always prevent a jump from going wrong. The safety net ensures that the trampoline is closed and that it cannot fall down.
Of course, it must be ensured that the net is anchored to a high quality and can be closed tightly. A system with a zipper has been established here that can be closed immediately when your child has stepped onto the jumping surface.
Also make sure that the net is attached directly to the inside where the jumping mat begins and not at the outer end of the edge. Otherwise it is possible that those jumping will fall onto the edge.
#2: Externally mounted poles
The inner safety net just mentioned has another major advantage that is rarely discussed, although it is of fundamental importance for safety: the poles are therefore far away from the jumping area.
In simple garden trampolines the bars are straight and not curved. The safety net is attached to them and is therefore not continuous, but is repeatedly interrupted by the posts.
Such a construction is doubly problematic, because if you make a mistake you can not only land on the edge, where the springs are, but also bang against the bars.
For a safe garden trampoline, the bars should be attached to the outside. Ideally, they are still padded just in case. This is more important if you play outside of the garden trampoline. Then the poles do not become a sharp-edged tripping hazard.
#3: Cover the edge
The hard springs are stretched on the edge of the garden trampoline. A padded edge cover prevents a fall on this area from having serious consequences.
Of course, it is better if the edge is separated by the internal safety net anyway. The main purpose of the edge cover is to prevent smaller children from having the idea of playing with the feathers. This also makes the garden trampoline more durable because the edge cover protects it from precipitation and dirt.
#4: Stable legs for a secure stand
The legs of the garden trampoline prevent it from lifting when jumping. Curved legs with a wide support surface are much more suitable for this than round feet, which then bear the entire weight.
At the same time, the legs and the entire garden trampoline must have a certain weight so that it not only stands firmly when jumping, but also does not simply blow away in windy weather.
